If you're interested in expanding your veterinary business and you think that offering on site services would be a great way to make more money, there are some things you want to have ready before you offer the services. You may need to get a special permit to do this type of work in your area, and you may have to get a separate business license that is different than the one you already have. Here are a few of the things you want to look into and that you want before you are ready to hit the road to treat animals.
Once you leave the property the insurance coverage you have for your commercial space isn't effective. This means you aren't covered against liability concerns and you aren't protected against damages, theft, and more. Talk with your insurance provider to make sure you have the necessary coverage added, so you don't have to worry about getting sued by a client or about damage to any of your business supplies and materials.
You need to have everything that you would need in the office. This means you want to have all of the supplies to take blood, check vitals, and the supplies needed do stiches, casting, or wound cleaning. You'll also need a portable sonography machine. You can plan what you'll need in the morning before you head out to treat patients, but there are many supplies you want to always have in your vehicle just in case.
Mobile Medical Van
A mobile medical van where you can work on patients in the back is ideal. You will know the area is sterile if you clean it, and you can get a model with shelving and storage to keep all of your supplies ready to go. There are different vehicles designed specifically for medical use, and they can be customized if needed. This is also a great way to advertise your business.
It will be easy to treat patients that need emergency care on location when you have a medical vehicle to go to the location, and when you have the supplies and the medical insurance that you need. It's also easier for you to care for livestock and other animals that aren't easy to get in office when you offer this service. Start gathering what you need and then advertise to start earning off what you have to invest to get things moving.
